The all-new 2025 BMW M5 Touring: A Canadian first

In an automotive first, BMW is offering the BMW M5 Touring in Canada—a move that has the nation’s car world buzzing. This marks a significant moment for both BMW and performance vehicle aficionados. The new M5 Touring made its North American debut at Pebble Beach Automotive Week in August, and though it’s the first time Canadians will get a taste of the M5 Touring, the high-performance wagon has a rich history.

BMW M first introduced a Touring variant in 1992 alongside the second-gen M5 sedan, known as the E34, and in 2007, there was the fourth-gen M5 sedan, which was paired with its Touring sibling, the E61.

The all-new 2025 BMW M5 Touring takes things a step further. This new iteration of the M5 Touring blends high-performance with sustainability. Built at BMW Group’s Plant Dingolfing alongside the M5 sedan, the M5 Touring will feature the same groundbreaking performance expected from BMW M, while providing a more spacious option with the option to use battery power. The M Hybrid drivetrain produces 717 hp and 738 lb-ft to and the near silent powertrain has an estimated range of up-to 40 kilometres with a full charge.

There are five different driving modes that are easy to switch between, depending on your preferred set-up. How the combustion engine interacts with the electric motor can be altered by choosing the ‘M Hybrid’ mode. Other driving options include ‘Hybrid’ (which is the default), ‘Electric’, ‘eControl’ (which keeps the battery charged to a specific level throughout a drive), ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Dynamic Plus’.

For Canadians, the arrival of the M5 Touring offers more than just a new BMW model. It opens the door to a vehicle that combines the heart of BMW M’s racing heritage with the practicality for everyday life. Whether you’re navigating city streets or exploring the scenic backroads outside of our community, the increased cargo space, with up to 1,630 litres of luggage capacity, is a welcomed addition.

Customization is a priority for the 2025 M5 Touring, too. There are 10 exterior paint colours to choose from, including the two M exclusive shades: Isle of Man Green metallic and Marina Bay Blue metallic.
