BMW ETOBICOKE ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

Our Accessibility Plan outlines how we remove and prevent accessibility barriers for our customers and employees.

We’ve adopted accessibility standards that align with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

The plan tracks our progress toward achieving these standards now in the future and shows how BMW Etobicoke will play its role in making Ontario an accessible province for all Ontarians.

Statement of Commitment

BMW Etobicoke is committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Ontario’s accessibility laws.

Customer Service

BMW Etobicoke is committed to continuing to accommodate all persons with disabilities and their companions in a reasonable means. This includes but not limited to providing the same high quality customer service as others in a timely manner, communicating in a dignified manner that takes into account their disability, accommodating assistive devices, allowing service animals on our premises, and allowing a support person to accompany them on our premises.

Self-Service Kiosks

BMW Etobicoke is committed to incorporating accessibility features and considering accessibility for people with disabilities when designing, procuring, or acquiring self-service kiosks.

Our Service Kiosks are carefully designed with accessibility in mind – the height of the kiosks is lowered to make them more accessible for customers using wheelchairs, they are audio enabled, have large-character keypads, and screens with contrasting bright colours to make the instructions easier to read.

Design of Public Spaces

BMW Etobicoke will continue to meet accessibility laws when building or making major changes to public spaces (e.g. parking lot, showroom, washroom, etc.).

To obtain construction permits all of Policaro Group’s new builds and renovations must meet or exceed local accessibility standards to ensure our spaces are fully accessible.

BMW Etobicoke will put procedures in place to prevent service disruptions to the accessible parts of our public spaces. In the event that a service disruption was to occur and the dealership was unable to provide appropriate accessibility to all customers a notification will be posted.

Accessible Emergency Information

BMW Etobicoke is committed to providing our customers with publicly available emergency information in accessible formats when requested. We also provide individual emergency response information to employees with disabilities when needed.

Information and Communications

We believe everyone should have equal access to important information and are committed to making our information and communications accessible to people with disabilities. Upon request, we will provide information about our organization and its services, including public safety information, in accessible formats or with communication supports.

We will also meet internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA website requirements in accordance with Ontario’s accessibility laws.

Recruitment, Employment & Training

BMW Etobicoke is an equal opportunity employer and recognizes that we have a responsibility to provide a barrier free environment. We are committed to fair, accessible, and inclusive recruitment and employment practices where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

We offer self-paced accessibility training to all BMW Etobicoke employees, volunteers, and other staff members through an online HR Portal. The training is designed to provide awareness around the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and how it impacts the employer and employees.

Workplace accommodation for people with disabilities

Accommodating people with disabilities is an important part of our commitment to an inclusive, supportive, and accessible workplace. We develop individual accommodation and return-to-work plans for employees who miss work due to a disability.

Our Human Resources department works closely with employees and managers to ensure we meet all workplace accommodation needs quickly and efficiently.
